John Paul “Jack” Meglic, Jr.

 

WINTER HAVEN - John Paul “Jack” Meglic, Jr. died Monday, March 5, 2007 at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, FL due to complications from heart disease.

Born May 21, 1946 in Easton, PA to John and Dorothy Meglic, Jack lived in Houston, TX for 20 years before moving with his family to Winter Haven, FL in 1992. Jack worked as a dispatcher at Indian River Transport. He was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Lake Wales and was a veteran of the Vietnam War having served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a man with a great sense of humor and left behind many beloved friends and co-workers.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by: his wife, Melissa Cox of Winter Haven; his son, John C. Meglic of Houston, TX; two daughters, Joanne M. Youseff of Houston, TX and Jennifer L. Meglic of Winter Haven; a brother, George Meglic and wife Jody of Easton, PA; a sister, Linda M. Koenig and husband Mark of Nanty Glo, PA; brother-in-laws, John V. Cox and wife Gay of Dallas, TX and Robert G. Cox and wife Meredith of Fayetteville, AR; mother-in-law, Louise S. Cox of Palestine, TX; nephews, Todd Koenig of PA, Zac Cox of TX, and Christopher and Kevin Meglic both of PA; nieces, Afton C. Zguns and husband Adrians of FL, and Jennifer K. Lantzy and husband Todd of PA; and four grandchildren all in Houston, TX.

The family will receive friends from 5-7pm, Thursday, March 8, 2007 at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, 2425 Havendale Blvd., NW, Winter Haven, FL. Funeral Services will be held 10am, Friday, March 9, 2007 at The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Lake Wales, FL with The Rev. Thomas C. Seitz, Jr. officiating. Interment will be at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL. In lieu of flowers please send memorials to All Saints Academy, 5001 State Road 540 West.
