HAINES CITY - "Kay" Catherine Murphy, 88, of Haines City, FL passed away at her residence on January 30, 2012 of heart disease.

She was born on March 18, 1923 in Philadelphia, PA and moved to Haines City in January of 1947. She worked for Carl Floyd Theaters in Haines City as a private secretary and also volunteered with Hospice. She was a member of First Christian Church Disciples of Christ of Haines City where she was quite active, she was the first female Elder, a board chairman, she taught Sunday school, was the Women's Fellowship Chairman, the Evangelism Chairman and was also awarded as Elder Emeritus.

Kay was predeceased by her husband, V.A. Murphy and survived by her children, Allen (Pam) Murphy of Ponte Vedra, FL, Bob (Jody) Murphy of Dundee, FL, Dale (Sandi) Murphy of Lake Wales, FL, Carol (Doug) Rhyne of Orlando, FL; 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Thursday from 5-7 pm at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, Haines City and the funeral service will be Friday at 11 am at First Christian Church of Haines City.
