 Kenneth Eason Allen

Kenneth Eason Allen

Winter Haven- Kenneth Eason Allen, Sr. lost his courageous battle with cancer on May 29, 2010.

Born June 17, 1939 in Savannah, Georgia, Ken spent the last months of his life at his Winter Haven home in the care of his wife, Margy, brother, Dr. Jim Allen, and children, Ken Allen, Jr., Cindy Hartsfield, Tisa Oldham and Kelly Tingle. Ken enjoyed his storybook youth in Brooksville, FL, played football at Hernando High School and graduated from Florida State University.

His accomplishments are many: Charter Member of the prestigious Citgo Petroleum Corporation Eagles Club, past member of Lake Wales Rotary Club of Lake Wales where he was named a Paul Harris Fellow, and past Board member of Florida Petroleum Marketers Association. Ken’s company was actively involved in support of the Muscular Dystrophy Association and is currently involved in various other local charitable organizations. His generous nature knew no limits.

Residing the past 34 years in Winter Haven, Ken was the owner and CEO of Mid-State Energy, Inc. in Lake Wales. Mid-State will continue in the ownership and management of his son, Ken Allen, Jr., daughters Cindy Hartsfield and Kelly Tingle, and son-in-law Shawn Tingle.   While his life was tragically cut short, he lived it fully during his young 70 years. Ken and Margy had the opportunity to travel widely throughout five continents, while enjoying the camaraderie and companionship of countless friends. He doggedly pursued his passion of sport fishing, eagerly sharing his pleasure with friends and family. The past 15 years his friends remember him fondly aboard his 48' Ocean Sports Fishing Vessel, the "Oil Rig", in Marathon, Florida.
