WINTER HAVEN, FL - Jerry Dean Ptak, 73, died at home of heart failure late Monday night, March 1, 2010.
Born November 15, 1936 in Mitchell, South Dakota, he graduated from Dakota Wesleyan University and received his Masters in Business Administration from New York University. He also served 10 years in the Army National Guard Reserves playing the trumpet for the band. He and his wife of 53 years, Lila, moved to Winter Haven, FL in 2004.
Known as Mr. Jerry to the children at Hope Creative School, he was a jovial, fun loving man who wanted to take care of everyone. His love of gardening and the outdoors was a main stay in his life.
He is survived by his wife Lila Jean Lee Ptak, brother Lavalle Ptak and wife, Pat; daughter Julie Ptak Wilson and husband, Bob; son Scott Lee Ptak and wife, Stephanie; grandsons, Bradley Ptak and wife, Maria; Scott E. Ptak, Sawyer Ptak; granddaughters Jessica Wilson, Rebecca Wilson and great grandchildren Josie Ptak and Brian Ptak.
A memorial service will be held in the Garden of Hope, Hope Presbyterian Church, 2110 Cypress Gardens Blvd., Winter Haven, Florida at 5:00 PM, Friday, March 19th. 2010.
