Winter Haven - Richard G. "Dick" Kingham, 78, of Winter Haven died Tuesday, March 09, 2010 at his residence due to cancer.   

Born January 17, 1932 in Louisville, KY to Oliver and Dorothy Weishaar Kingham he moved here in 1947. He was a graduate of Winter Haven High School, received an Associate of Arts Degree from the Marion Military Institute and his Bachelor’s Degree from Florida Southern College.   Dick was a citrus grower and after graduation he went to work for the Lake Alfred Packing Company as the Assistant Sales Manager.  He became  the General Manager in 1967 and remained in that capacity until 1980 when the plant was sold. He then formed the Lake Alfred Fruit Company, which became a Harvester and Grove maintenance service company where he was the President and General Manager until 1996 when it was sold.  

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Winter Haven where he was a Deacon and Elder. He was a Charter member of Lake Region Yacht and Country Club, Past-President of the Florida Citrus Showcase, Past-President of The Florida Club and Past-President of the Florida Tangerine Co-OP and he also served on the Board of the Growers Advisory Committee and Barnett Bank.   He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served with the 264th Field Artillery Battalion.  His hobbies included showing horses, racing cars, training Labrador Retrievers and hunting. 

Preceded in death by his parents and his son, Mark Richard Kingham, he is survived by: his wife of 52 years, Judith Roberson Kingham; 2 daughters, Elizabeth Carole Kingham Hathaway of Ocean Ridge, FL and Karen Lee Kingham Schreiber and her husband Mark of Winter Haven; a brother, John Robert Kingham of Winter Haven; a cousin, B.J. Hoefle of Lakeland, FL; and 2 grandchildren, Morgan and Austin Schreiber. 

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, March 13, 2010 at the First Presbyterian Church of Winter Haven with Dr. Steven Negley and Dr. Alan Harvey officiating.
