LAKE ALFRED, Florida - LaVerne (Buggsy) Pennington died on June 8, 2010 at Winter Haven Hospital from complications of a stroke. He was 70.

   Buggsy and his wife moved to Winter Haven from North Liberty, Iowa in 2001. He was an avid Chicago Bears and Cubs fan and also loved airplanes. He proudly served in the US Air Force from 1957-1962. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where he played his bass guitar in the Praise Band and The Joy Makers Funtime Band.

   Buggsy was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver and Adelaide Pennington and a brother. He is survived by his wife, Marlene; 8 children; 15 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters and 1 sister-in-law.

   A Memorial Service will be held at 6:00 P.M. on Thursday, June 17, 2010 at Trinity United Methodist Church.  Oak Ridge Funeral Care, Winter Haven, FL in charge of local arrangements.
