George William Hayes, 85, of Winter Haven, FL passed away on June 10, 2010 at his residence with his family at his bedside, after a long battle with cancer.

  He worked at the State Hospital in the Powerhouse in Michigan and also was a farmer.  He was born March 17, 1925. George was a former resident of Saline, MI and moved to Winter Haven in 1984.

   He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and father-in-law. He is joining his wife Lazelda with the Lord and is survived by his children, Nancy and her husband, Herb Napier of Winter Haven, Alice and her husband, Joe Pinter of Belleville, MI, Amy and her husband Davyd Hall of Winter Haven, William "Bill" Hayes of Winter Haven, Mike Hayes and his wife Judy of Winston Salem, NC, and Patricia "Pat" Murdock Hayes of Tecumseh, MI. 14 grandchildren, Debbie, Ritchie, Jennifer, Johnny, Tim, Sam, Melody, Courtney, Donovan, Khrysta, Brian, William, James and Jadalein. 13 great grandchildren.

   He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Alice Hayes, wife, Lazelda Hayes, daughter, Janet Heffington, brother, Jim Hayes and granddaughter Tammy Pinter and a good and close friend Max Murdock, he is also survived by former wife Genevieve Penn.

  A memorial service will be Sunday, June 13, 2010 at 2 pm at Swiss Village Clubhouse in Winter Haven. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in his name to Good Shepherd Hospice.
