LAKELAND, FL- Ruby Nell Simmons of Auburndale, passed away Thursday, July 22, 2010 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center from a stroke. She was 75.
A native of Omega, Georgia, born June 1, 1935, Ruby has been a resident of this area for 60 years, moving here from Georgia. She was a homemaker, a member of the Apostolic Church of Tampa, and she traveled with her husband doing missionary work in Haiti and the Philippines.
Ruby was predeceased by her grandson Jeremy Woodard.
She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years: Emory R. Simmons; her daughter: Sarah (Clifford) Fountain of Lakeland; her sons: Stephen (Faye) Simmons and Phillip Simmons of Auburndale, Joel Simmons of Lakeland, Duane (Nicole) Simmons of Georgia; her sisters: Gussie Anderson of Bluffton, IN, Mildred Craig of Tampa, Dorothy Lou Willis of Lakeland, and her brother: Grady Exum of Bell, FL. Ruby also has eleven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 4 PM at Oak Ridge Funeral Care in Winter Haven. Funeral services will be Monday at 10 AM from the funeral home chapel.
Interment will follow at Oak Hill Burial Park in Lakeland.
