HAINES CITY - Mrs. Alice Elizabeth Hickman, 80, passed away Thursday, July 22, 2010 of respiratory failure.
She was born in Miami, FL on Dec. 2, 1929 to Clarence and Leila Mae McKinney. She attended school in Coral Gables, FL. She married John L. Hickman in 1950 and they lived in Virginia, North Carolina, Texas, Kansas and Washington state before returning to Florida in 1980. Alice is survived by her husband; sons, John, Jr. of San Clemente, CA, James of Auburndale, FL, Bill of Ft. Meade, FL and daughter, Susan Allen of Oakville, Ontario, Canada. She also has 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; a sister Marjorie Willcox of Greensboro, NC and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Alice made a career in banking and retired in 1994 from Barnett Banks in Ft. Lauderdale, she moved to the Haines City area soon there after. Alice and John are members of First Methodist Church of Haines City. Visitation will be Weds., July 28, 2010 from 1-2 pm with services to follow at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, Haines City. Internment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to Good Shepherd Hospice 105 Arneson Ave., Auburndale, FL 33823.
