Don Corby

Don Corby

 

Winter Haven, FL - Don Corby, 75, of Winter Haven passed away Friday, July 23, 2010 at Orlando Regional Medical Center from complications of a cerebral hemorrhage. 

He was a native of Milwaukee, WI, born April 24, 1935. Don moved to Florida in 1958.  He was a business entrepreneur who owned several businesses in this area.  As owner of Don Corby Construction, he developed and named the community of Wahneta, and was also Owner and President of Killearn Construction, developing in central Florida, including new construction, stores, service stations, convenience stores, and custom homes. Don also was a Tax Specialist for H & R Block; was a state certified General Contractor, a Mortgage Broker and Real Estate Broker, and in his later years worked for Polk Works.  Don was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, the Italian American Club; the New Republican Club; and was a world traveler.

Don was preceded in death by his wife: Agnes Rose Corby, his mother Theresa Mortl, and his father:  Sam Corby.  He is survived by his daughter: Luann Corby of Winter Haven; his grandchildren:  Hunter Bowden of Alabama, T.J. Bowden of Tallahassee, and Kayla Owens of Winter Haven.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5 to 8 PM at Oak Ridge Funeral Care in Winter Haven.  A funeral mass will be held Thursday at 10AM at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. 

Interment will follow at Rolling Hills Cemetery.
