HAINES CITY - James Wesley Underwood,  Pappy, age 71 of Haines City, Fl passed away Jan. 29, 2010 at his home from cancer.

He was born Dec. 25, 1938 in Bartow, Florida and lived in Alturas, Fl till moving to Lake Wales in 1949 and then to Haines City in 1974. He retired as a supervisor with Florida Power (Progress Energy) after 38 years of service.

During his retirement he began consulting for Progress Energy and spent most of his time in the Florida Keys doing what he loved most .. Fishing .. his passion.  One of his greatest joys was taking his grandchildren on fishing trips to the Keys.

He is survived by

3 daughters,  Jeri Bowen of Dundee, Fl;

Deanna  (Page) Dionne of Enterprise, Ala

Cindy (Martin) of Mauk,Ga.

2 step sons, Morris Pate, Sr. of Knoxville, Tn.

                  Robert Whitney of  S.C.

3 brothers,  Gerald Underwood of Lake Wales,

                 Wayne Underwood of Sarasota, Fl

                 Vernon Underwood In Albamara, NC.

Grandchildren,  Hunter Bowen & Haley Johnson;    Alex and Jill Dionne; Angela, Amber, Amy and Martin Evans, Jr.                     

Great Grandchildren, Robby, Evan, Hannah, Natalie, Jadyn and Eli,  

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 AM. Tuesday (Feb. 2, 2010) with services at 11AM. at the Oak Ridge Funeral Care, Haines City, Fl. Interment to follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.
