Matthew F. Koppinger

 

 

WINTER HAVEN - Matthew F. Koppinger, 85, of Winter Haven, FL died Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at Brandon Regional Hospital due to respiratory failure.  

Born Oct. 2, 1924 in Detroit, MI to Adam and Mary Krach Koppinger, he moved to Winter Haven in 1987 from Dearborn,MI.  Matthew was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Winter Haven ;  a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in WWII and was retired from Ford Motor Company.     

Preceded in death by his parents, his wife Marjorie and a sister, Mary Pastula.  He is survived by: 3 sons, Michael Koppinger of Champion,MI, Lawrence Koppinger of Lowell, Arkansas and Stephen Koppinger of Dearborn, MI; 4 daughters, Marjorie Ann Dicriscio of Dearborn, MI, Mary Pellegrini of Dearborn, MI, Theresa Phethean of Brandon, FL and Mary Lynn Koppinger of Southgate, MI; 9 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.     

A Memorial mass will be held at 10:00am, Monday, January 11, 2010 in the St. Joseph Catholic Church Chapel.  Inurnment of the cremains will be with his wife at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL.   Condolences may be sent at www.oakridgefuneralcare.com.
