Theron Edgar Thurman  

 

 

HAINES CITY - Theron Edgar Thurman, 95, died February 7, 2010, in Haines City, FL, after a brief illness.  

He was born on January 9, 1915, in Grant Co, IN to James Ollie and Hazel E. (Thornburg) Thurman. He graduated from Van Buren H.S. and Marion Business College. On April 13, 1941, he married Olga A. Boswell, also of Marion.  Soon after he enlisted in the Army Air Corps, where he served until the end of WW II.  During their 66 years together they have resided in Marion, Frankfort, and Warsaw, IN, and Sun City, AZ. They relocated  to Florida in 1989 where they lived their last years.   Ed Thurman was a farm loan representative of Metropolitan Life Ins. Co. for 30 years until his retirement in 1980. He was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church and a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star.  

Survivors include his daughters, Mrs. J. Wm. (Margaret) Strange of Haines City, FL and Mrs. Kenneth (Diana) Hitch of Loveland, CO, 5 grand- children, and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 2 brothers, and 1 sister.
