Annette Thompson

WINTER HAVEN - Annette Page Thompson, age 92, of Winter Haven, Fl died peacefully at home on Friday Morning at Lake Howard Heights with her husband and a Good Shepherd Hospice aide by her side.

Annette was born June 23, 1917 in Winter Haven.  Her parents were Samuel and Elizabeth (Baynard) Page and her grandparents were Ephriam Mikell and  Nettie Lee Baynard of Auburndale. Her grandfather built a house in Auburndale, which in now known as Baynard House, a small museum on the National Register of Historic Places.

She married Homer V. Thompson of Haines City in 1939 and they lived twenty four different places until after WW II when they settled in Miami and Ft. Lauderdale. Following Lt. Col. Thompson’s retirement from the Federal Communications Commission in 1978, they moved to Winter Haven.  

She was a member of Beymer Memorial United Methodist Church and the Wesley Fellowship Sunday School Class, the Ponce De Leon Chapter of the DAR and the Lake Region Yacht and Country Club. At one time Annette was an avid Amateur Radio operator with a Class A license and had phone contacts with over 335 countries. Her other hobbies included sports car rallying, international folk dancing, golf and traveling.

She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband Lt. Col.  Thompson and several cousins.

Funeral services will be 10:30 am, Monday (4/26/10) at Beymer Memorial United Methodist Church, Winter Haven, Fl.  Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery, Haines City. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Trustee Discretionary Trust Fund of Beymer Memorial United Methodist Church, Winter Haven.
