WINTER HAVEN, FLORIDA – George Edward Pearson, 85, of Winter Haven passed away Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at the Winter Haven Hospital from heart failure. 

A native of Mayodan, North Carolina, born January 23, 1924, George moved here in 1952 from North Carolina.  He retired as a Auto Body Mechanic from Spivey's Auto Parts, was a US Army Air Corps veteran during WWII, was a member of the Winter Haven Moose Lodge, and was a Polk County school crossing guard, was an avid Nascar fan, and used to race stock cars in North Carolina and Martinsville, VA. 

George is survived by his wife of 49 years:  Stella "Penny" Pearson of Winter Haven; his daughters:  DeeDee (Andy) Brewer of Lake Wales, and Vikki (Ronnie) Melvin of Reidsville, NC; his brothers:  Winford Pearson of Columbia, SC, Garland Ray Pearson of Greenville, SC, and Ralph Pearson of New Port News, VA, his niece:  Shauna (Derek) Dykes and their daughter Sydney of Winter Haven; his granddaughter:  Jennifer (Dave) Yates of Greensboro, NC; and his great-grandsons:  Owen Yates and Pearson Yates, his step-grandson:  Brent (Jena) Brewer and their child Carly; and George also had a sister Polly Farmer precede him, and is survived by several other nieces & nephews.
