HAINES CITY - Jean Pierson Pratt, 83 of Haines City passed away at her home on Saturday, May 2, 2009.

Mrs. Pratt was born in Louisville, Kentucky on December 30, 1925.  She moved to Haines City in 1946, with her husband.  She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Haines City.  Jean was very active in the community until her recent illness.  She was a member of the Heart of Florida Hospital Auxiliary. She also served on the Heart of Florida Education Foundation, Inc.  She was charter member of Lake Region Yacht & Country Club, and a member of the Sandspur Garden Club. Jean was Haines City 2000 Pioneer of the Year, an honor shared with her dear friend Mary Davis.

Mrs. Pratt was preceded in death by her parents, Glen Russell and Lillian Kunz Pierson, her husband James B. "Buster" Pratt, and her brother Dr. Glen Russell Pierson.  She is survived by 4 children, daughters, Elizabeth Gillette "Gill" Broadaway, Haines City, Mary Glen Taylor, Amelia Island, Lillian "Jamie" Simpson, Winter Haven; son James "Gator" Pratt; 10 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 9th at the First United Methodist Church of Haines City at 11:00 a.m., with a reception to follow.
