Richard Ronald Rogers, Sr.  

 

 

DAVENPORT - Richard Ronald Rogers, Sr., 63, of Davenport, FL formerly of Joppa, MD passed away on May 22, 2009 in Auburndale, FL.

He was born on June 3, 1945 in Baltimore MD to Franklin Rogers, Sr. and Marie Theiss Rogers. Richard moved to Davenport 5 years ago after spending most of his life in Joppa, where he worked for the Baltimore Sun Newspaper for 25 years. He was a US Air Force veteran serving at the rank of Airman First Class as a mechanic in the Vietnam War; he was a member of the V.F.W. # 6506 and past Commander of V.F.W. MD District 14, a member of M.O.C. P.T. 25, he was of the Methodist faith and he loved to fish.

Richard is predeceased by his parents and survived by his wife, of 41 years, Judith Rogers; sons, Michael (LuAnn) Rogers of Fort Knox, KY, Richard Ronald Rogers, Jr. of Villa Rica, GA, Joseph (Angie) Daniel Rogers of Lansdowne, MD; siblings, Ann Smith of Bowleys Quarter, MD, Franklin George Rogers, Jr., of Baltimore; grandchildren, Michael (Ashley) Rogers, Justin Rogers, Bunky Cash and Kaila Cash.

Service will be Tuesday 5/26/09 at 10 am at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL where he will be laid to rest with military honors. Condolences may be sent via:www.oakridgefuneralcare.com.
