Violet Gill

 

HAINES CITY - Violet Judy Gill, 93, went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 27, 2009 due to natural causes.

Violet was born on July 14, 1915 in Polk City, FL and was the last remaining child of Polk County pioneers Frank and Laura Judy and moved to Haines City in 1935.

During her early working years, Violet worked in the citrus industry at local packing houses. She also spent many years working in local school cafeterias. Violet’s favorite activities included gardening, quilting, and cooking. She was a strong Christian woman who loved the Lord and her family. She was a member of Crossroads Chapel in Davenport, FL. 

Violet was preceded in death by her parents, her eleven siblings, and her husband, Homer E. Gill. She is survived by her son, Ernie Gill of Haines City; daughters, Myrtle Emmit (Jim) of Haines City, Peggy Lathrop (Robert) of Garland, TX, Karline Wilmoth (Robert) of Haines City, sisters-in-law, Lillian Judy of Niles, MI, and Marjorie Judy of Polk City; 9 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Monday, 3/30/09 from 1-2 pm at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, Haines City with services to follow at 2 pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Davenport. Condolences may be sent via www.oakridgefuneralcare.com
