DAVENPORT - Maurice J. Ryan of Davenport, Florida, died March 11, 2009, at his residence. He was 77.
He was born July 15, 1931 in Brooklyn, New York to Maurice and Dorothy Rodgers Ryan and moved to Davenport thirteen years ago from Long Island, New York. Maurice was a carpenter with the local union 1456, United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Dock Builders, and he was a veteran of the United States Navy serving in the Korean War. He was a member of Saint Faustina Catholic Church, Clermont, Florida, a member of the Knights of Columbus and Holy Name Society. Maurice used to coach little league and he was involved with the Boy Scouts and he enjoyed to bowl.
He was predeceased by his wife, Alma T. Ryan and is survived by his children, Richard, Robert, Michael, Timothy, and Barbara Ann Ryan; brother, Gerald Ryan; sisters, Teresa Harrison and Dorothy Ryan; three granddaughters and one great granddaughter.
Visitation will be Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 5-7 p.m. at Oak Ridge Funeral Care. Funeral Mass will be Monday, March 16, 2009 at 9 a.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church, Haines City. Interment will follow at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida at 12:30 p.m. |
