WINTER HAVEN - Edwina Shults, 93, of Winter Haven, died Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at her residence.
Born to Peter and Sophie Shults on June 18, 1915 in New York, with the name Jadviga Marie Shults she changed her name to Edwina, be cause no one could pronounce her name. She lived in Queens, NY most of her life where she was the Head Bookkeeper at the New York City Public Library and moved to Winter Haven, FL in the mid 1980’s. She was a devout Catholic and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Winter Haven. A member of the Alter Society, she went to Mass Everyday of her life until her health prohibited it.
Preceded in death by her parents she is survived by: 2 nephews, Raymond Sherry of Winter Haven and Tom Shulski of New York; and 5 nieces, , Marion Hankins of North Carolina and Lorraine Sherry and Jean Scraggs of Colorado, Margaret Klimek of NY and Mary Ordorica of California.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00am, Saturday, March 14,2009 in the St. Joseph Catholic Church Chapel with Father Peter Puntal officiating. Interment services will be at 2:00pm, Monday, March 16, 2009 in the St. John’s Cemetery, Brooklyn, NY where she will be buried with her parents.
