HAINES CITY – Leonard W. Bartel, of Haines City, Florida passed away on June 25, 2009, at his residence. He was 78.  

He was born May 18, 1931 to Emil and Loretta Gudith Bartel in Wyandotte, Michigan and moved to Haines City in 1970 from Michigan. Leonard was retired, after 18 years, from the City of Haines City where he was a street supervisor. He was Presbyterian by faith, a veteran of the US Army where he was a Sgt.; and a member of American Legion Post #34, Haines City, Florida.  

He is survived by his companion; his sons, Brian Bartel of North Carolina, Kevin Bartel of Florida, Dwight Bartel and Michael Bartel both of Michigan, Patrick Bartel of Florida; sisters, Dorothy Maurno, Emily Klop, Esther Heiden, Alice James; several grandchildren and two great grandchildren.  

A funeral service will be Saturday, June 27, 2009 at 6:00 P.M. at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, Haines City with Reverend James Drake of Eastside Baptist Church officiating. Burial will take place at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida.
