WINTER HAVEN – John Jessee, 86, of Winter Haven died Thursday, July 30, 2009 at Palm Garden Nursing Home due to heart failure.

Born October 17, 1922 to John and Lou Fonna Jones Jessee in Bixby, Oklahoma, he moved to Winter Haven in 1996 from Denver, CO.  He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Winter Haven and was a retired Drafting Supervisor for Chevron Oil Company where he worked for 35 years.  John was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy having served in WWII and was a member of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Assn.

Preceded in death by his parents, he is survived by: his wife of 65 years, Moreen; a daughter, Suzanne Lewis of Flatwoods, KY; a brother, Richard Jessee of California; 4 grandchildren, Shanna Carver, Ryan Duffy, Derek Duffy and William A. Lewis; and 5 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 2:00pm till 4:00pm on Sunday, Aug. 2, 2009 at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, 2425 Havendale Blvd., Winter Haven

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00am, Monday, Aug. 3, 2009 in the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Chapel.  Interment will follow at 2:00pm in the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL.  In lieu of flowers please make donations to the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church School in his memory.
