Phyllis Beckley

 

Winter Haven- Phyllis Nesbitt Beckley went to be with the Lord on July 3, 2009, at the Life Care Center in Winter Haven. She died from heart failure.

Phyllis was born on September 12, 1920, in Fremont, Ohio. She was the daughter of Doris Jones Low and Paul Edger Nesbitt. She was married December 2, 1939 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Port Clinton, Ohio to Harold (Bud) Robert Beckley (deceased).

She is survived by her daughter Louise A Smith, Winter Haven and her husband Richard Smith and her two grandchildren, Troy R. Smith of Apopka and Tyson R. Smith of Winter Haven as well as five great grandchildren. Preceded in death were her husband, Harold (Bud) Beckley, her son Thomas H. Beckley, grandsons Matthew Beckley and Todd Smith, sister Betty Jane Nesbitt, mother Doris, stepfather Floyd Low, and father Paul Edger Nesbitt. Phyllis was a charter member of the Grace Community Church in Fremont, Ohio and a member of the Grace Brethren Church in Lakeland, Florida. She was a Sunday school teacher for 45 years, was the President of the Women's Missionary Council, the Missions Chairman, Devotional Leader, Deaconess, Church Secretary and Bible Study Leader.

Viewing will be held on Tuesday, July 7, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, Winter Haven and the funeral is Wednesday, July 8 at 10:00 am with the burial following at Florida National Cemetery at Bushnell.
