Edward E. Murphy  

Edward Murphy

WINTER HAVEN - Edward E. Murphy, 85, passed away on January 27th, 2009 of heart failure.

He was born in Rockaway Beach, NY in 1923 and raised in the Bronx. When 17, Ed joined the Marine Corps and fought in the Pacific. Following a career as a NYC police detective, he and his family moved to Ithaca, NY. He served there as a town judge until 1991 when he and his wife, Dolores, retired to Florida. He was a member of American Legion Post # 8, the NY State Magistrates Assoc., and St. Josephʼs Church.

 

He is survived by his wife, Dolores, daughter, Karen and Michael Dougher of Tuxedo Park, NY; son Edward G. Murphy of Tampa, FL, daughter Suzanne and Dana Goulette of Stafford, VA; younger sister, Marilyn Reigle of West Palm Beach, FL; and grandchildren, Mitchell, Aidan, Claire, Paige, Cadie, Nathan, and Jack and a legacy of mythic proportions.

 

He will be interred in the National Cemetery at Quantico Marine Corps Base, Virginia on February 13th.
