HAINES CITY - Clarence "Shorty" David, 81, of Haines City, Florida, went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 6, 2009 in Lakeland, Florida.
He was born July 25, 1927 in Providence, Rhode Island to Emo and Rosetta Alexander David. Shorty was a long time resident of Haines City moving here in 1976. He retired from the Polk County Maintenance Department after some 20 years. Shorty was of the Baptist faith and was known throughout the community and local Baptist churches for his piano recitals. Outside of his love of music and playing piano he enjoyed classic cars. His wife, Gloria David and his son Paul David predecease him.
He is survived by his children, Pam Wilson and her husband Terry of Polk City, Florida, Kenneth David and his wife Brenda of Davenport, Florida and Keith “Catfish” David and his wife, Connie of Sandy Hook, Mississippi; Sister, Florence Coburn of Warwick, Rhode Island; brother, Russell David and his wife, Lorie of Lincoln, California; grandchildren, Michael David, Shelly Soots, Thomas Wilson, Shawna David, Jennifer Gills, Jessica David, Samantha David, Nyssa Blando, Kyle David, Gloriann Wilson, fourteen great grandchildren and best buddy, Shane Tyler.
Visitation will be Friday, January 9, 2009 from 10- 12 p.m. at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, Haines City. Funeral services will follow at 12 p.m. at Forest Hill Cemetery with Pastor Roger Boyce officiating. Condolences may be sent via www.oakridgefuneralcare.com
