WINTER HAVEN - Troy Christopher Cockrum, 17, of Winter Haven, Fl died Monday, December 29, 2008 as the result of an automobile accident on SR 540.

Born July 29, 1991 to Dennis and Sheila Martin Cockrum in Winter Haven, he has been a lifelong resident of the area.  He was a student at Lake Region High School and a Semi-Pro Skateboarder who was sponsored by One Nation.  He was known for his skateboarding, winning numerous competitions and for being very loyal to all of his friends.   

Troy was preceded in death his: Maternal Grandmother, Harriet “Nana” Martin; his Paternal Grandmother,  JoAnn “Nanny” Meredith; Paternal Grandfather, Donald Cockrum. 

He is survived by: his parents Dennis and Sheila Cockrum of Winter Haven; a sister, Sarah Elizabeth Cockrum; a Maternal grandfather, Bill Martin, Sr. of Lake Wales; a step-grandmother, Sandra Harris Cockrum of Winter Haven; and his girlfriend, Stefanie Sasser. 

The family will receive friends from 2:00pm till 5:00pm, Sunday, January 4, 2009 at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, 2425 Havendale Blvd., Winter Haven. Funeral Services will be at 11:00am, Monday, Jan. 5, 2009 in the Funeral Home Chapel.  Interment will follow at Auburndale Memorial Park.  Condolences may be sent to the family at www.oakridgefuneralcare.com.
