Ray L. Harrison

Ray Harrison

WINTER HAVEN, FLORIDA – Ray L. Harrison, Sr. of Winter Haven passed away Monday, February 2, 2009 at home from heart failure.  He was 77. 

A native of Harrison, GA born April 22, 1931, Ray moved here 70 years ago from Georgia.  He retired from GTE as a Construction Supervisor.  Ray also was a US Navy veteran during the Korean Conflict, was a deacon, and active member of the First Baptist Church of Eagle Lake.  He was very involved with youth sports, coaching little league for over 40 years. 

Ray was preceded in death by his parents:  Roosevelt & Tommi Harrison, his daughter:  Polly Coffman, his sister:  Louise Short, and his brothers:  Roger & Roy Harrison.  He is survived by his loving wife of 52 ½ years:  Betty Harrison; his sons:  Ray L. (Veronica) Harrison, Jr., Timothy L. (Patricia) Harrison, David L. (Aimee) Harrison, all of Winter Haven; his brother:  George Harrison of Auburndale, and Ray also has 10 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Wednesday fro 5 to 8 PM at Oak Ridge Funeral Care in Winter Haven.  Funeral services will be Thursday, 3:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Eagle Lake.  Interment will follow at Glen Abbey Memorial Gardens in Auburndale.
