WAHNETA - Lucy Mae Smith, 92, of Wahneta, died Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at the Good Shepherd Hospice Residence Center in Auburndale due to cancer. Born April 27, 1916 to Nathaniel and MinnieHall Beasley in Soperton, GA, she moved here in 1953 from Claxton, GA. She was a homemaker and a member of the Wahneta Church of God. Preceded in death by her husband, Miles Smith, in 1992, and a son, Gordon Smith in 2008, she is survived by: 3 sons, Rev. Gene A. Smith and his wife, Margaret of Bartow, Irving P. Smith and his wife Marion of Bartow and Jesse D. Smith and his wife Bobbie of Wahneta; 2 daughters, Lavonne McCrum and her husband Paul of Eagle Lake and Helen M. Trowell and her husband Jim of Brooker, FL; 9 Grandchildren; 15 Great-grandchildren and 6 Great-Great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6:00pm till 8:00pm, Thursday, April 23, 2009 at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, 2425 Havendale Blvd., Winter Haven. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 pm, Friday, April 24, 2009 the Bethel Church of God, 4725 Fighter Rd, Bartow, FL 33830. Interment will follow at Shady Grove Cemetery in Wahneta. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that memorial donations be made Good Shepherd Hospice, 105 Arneson Ave., Auburndale, FL 33823.
