WINTER HAVEN - William F. "Buffalo Bill" Duane, 83, of Winter Haven, died Saturday, August 30, 2008 at Winter Haven Hospital due to heart failure.

 Born to Joseph and Mary Cronin Duane on June 18, 1925 in Buffalo, NY, Bill moved to Winter Haven in 1979 from Buffalo, NY.  Bill was retired from Bethlehem Steel Corp. and was a veteran of WWII and the Korean War while serving in the U.S. Navy.  He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Winter Haven; a member of the American Legion Post #8 in Winter Haven and the Navy Seabee Veterans Assn, Island X-2, Lakeland, Fl. 

Preceded in death by his wife Gladys in 1980, Bill is survived by:  2 daughters, Patricia Adams and her husband Les of Winter Haven and Kathryn Box of Lakeland; a brother, Joseph Duane of Tonawanda, NY; 2 sisters, Sheila Tavano of Placerville, CA and Margaret Geary of Blacklick, OH; and 2 grandchildren, Aaron Adams and Britni Box.
