WINTER HAVEN - Milton Louis Brantly, 78, of Winter Haven died May 9, 2008 at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Fl due to cancer.
Born February 27, 1930 in Greensboro, NC to Roy and Emma Brantly, his family moved to Florida in 1940. He attended Florida schools and graduated from Ocala High School in 1948. He entered the United States Air Force upon graduation from high school and served for 20 years, retiring as a Major in 1968. He served in the Phillipines, Iceland and Spain and ended his career as an Air Force ROTC instructor at the University of Florida. He was graduated from the University of Oklahoma in December 1958 and received a Masters Degree in education from the University of Florida in 1969. He moved to Winter Haven in 1969 from Gainesville, FL and began teaching business education in Polk County high schools in August 1969. In July 1985, he became the Supervisor of Business Education for Polk County Schools and served in this position until his retirement in June, 1993.
Preceded in death by his parents, he is survived by his wife of 23 years, Nancy Lemasters Brantly; four sons, Dr. Mark Louis Brantly of Gainesville, FL; Dean Lee Brantly of St. Augustine, FL, Dale Frank Brantly of Peachtree City, GA, Keith Alan Brantly of Jacksonville, FL; two step-sons, Mark Richardson of Hobe Sound, FL and Michael Richardson of Winter Haven, FL; 14 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00am, Saturday, May 17, 2008 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 656 Avenue L, NW, Winter Haven with Rev. Tim Shaw officiating. In lieu of flowers please make Memorials to the University of Florida Shands Cancer Center, c/o Eric Chesser, Coordinator, Administrative Services, Dept. of Medicine, 1600 SW Archer Road, Room M452, P.O.
