| | Leon William Wells WINTER HAVEN - Leon William Wells of Winter Haven, FL passed away from cancer Saturday, May 3, 2008 at the Winter Haven Hospital. He was 74
years old.
A native of Hutchinson, Kansas, born May 2, 1934, Leon has been in this area for 45 years. Leon was a plastics engineer, President and owner of Wells Products. He developed many products for the citrus industry, and also the Hobo trash receptacle. He served as a pilot in the US Marines; was a member of the American Legion Post 8 of Winter Haven, and he was a member of the Trinity Methodist Church in Hutchinson, Kansas. Leon was a graduate of the University of Kansas, where he won the Big Eight high jump championship and was a member of the National Championship runner up team.
Leon is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Patricia P. Wells, two daughters: Stacey (Todd) Faulkner of Athens, GA, and Michael (Tim) Ballard of Germantown, TN; three brothers: Dr. Gene Wells and Dr. Ron Wells, both of Hutchinson, KS, and Dr. Bob Wells of Norman, OK. Leon also loved and enjoyed his grandchildren: Andrew & Zach Ballard, and Jake & Sydney Faulkner. He will be remembered by his daughters as a loving and supportive father who always put family first.
