LAKE ALFRED - Gary "Hambone" Herrington, 54, of Lake Alfred died Monday, July 28, 2008 at his residence due to cancer. 

Born January 10, 1954 to in Kendall, FL he has been a resident of the area since moving here in 1988 from Marion, IN.  He was a welder and ironworker and was of the Church of Christ faith.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and served during the Vietnam War.  He was also a member of the American Legion Post #8 in Winter Haven; and he loved to fish and golf.

Preceded in death by his father, Carol F. Herrington and a sister, Carolyn Cook;

he is survived by: his wife of 20 years, Kathy Irene Disney Herrington; his mother, Bernadean Gann and her husband Lester; 2 sons, Gary F. Herrington of Marion, IN and Tim Disney of Lake Alfred, FL; 2 daughters, Jamie Disney of Lake Alfred, and Christina Gause of Marion, IN; 4 brothers, Danny Herrington of St. Petersburg, Fl, James Herrington of MI, David Herrington of Las Vegas, NV and Ronald Herrington of MS; a sister, Sherry Coates of Bartow, FL; and 9 grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, August 2, 2008 at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, 2425 Havendale Blvd., NW, Winter Haven, FL 33881.
