Henry S. Ackroyd  DAVENPORT - Henry S. Ackroyd, age 88 passed away, Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at his home in Davenport, Fl. from congestive heart failure.
Mr. Ackroyd was born November 17, 1919 in Portland, Maine and moved here in 1952 from Knoxville, Tennessee. He was a retired food inspector for USDA, a Army Veteran of WW II, member of the American Legion, Davenport Chamber of Commerce, past City Councilman for the City of Davenport. a member of Davenport United Methodist Church, and also attended Winter Haven Worship Center.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mildred Juanita Cromartie Ackroyd in 1998, grandson Stephen Henry Ackroyd in 1997 and step-grandaughter Dianna Looney in 2005.
Survived by his Son, Mark Ackroyd of Haines City; Two Daughters; Catharine Allen of Clearwater and Renea Villers of Murfreesboro, Tn.; and Seven Grandchildren Friends may call Friday, July 25, 2008 from 5 to 7 PM. with services Saturday, July 26, 2008 at 11:00 AM at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, Haines City. Interment to follow at Forest Hill Cemetery, Haines City.
