LAKE WALES - Edward "Gene" Hines, age 84 passed Sunday (June 29, 2008) in Colquitt, Georgia, from heart failure.

Mr. Hines was born Oct. 27, 1923 in Marianna, Florida and had lived in Haines City for 40 years before moving to Lake Wales in 2006. He was a Army veteran of WW II and had attended Eastside Baptist Church, Haines City. He was a retired citrus truck dispatcher.

 
He was preceded in death by his daughter Marsha Hines. Survivors: wife Mavis Tiner Hines, son Edward Jerome Hines of Winter Haven, daughters Diane Tyler of Myrtle Beach, SC., Shelia Hines of Lake Wales, Fl., 3 grandchildren, Kelly Carrasco, Krissy McCall, Austin Hines, 5 great grandchildren, Kaley Peterson, Emily McCall, Hannah McCall, Bailee Carrasco, Elco Carrasco, Jr., 1 sister Quinque Donley, Winter Haven.
