 DUNDEE - Flora Inez Wyngate of Dundee, Florida, passed away Sunday, January 27, 2008 at the Winter Haven Hospital. She was 93 years old.
A native of Milam County, Texas, born November 21, 1914, Inez moved to this area 1990 from Louisiana. She was a retired Librarian from the East Baton Rouge Parish Library in Louisiana. Inez was also a member of the Winter Haven Church of Christ.
Mrs. Wyngate was the eldest of 4 children born to Joseph Wilson and Lucy Wilson (McGregor). She was the sole surviving member of her siblings (Benton, Tolliver, Hazel). She received her education in Friendship Texas, and attended nursing school. Because of the Great Depression she dropped out of advanced education to help support her younger sister thru nursing school. Much of her life would be the same, placing others needs before her own. She worked at various careers until her marriage to Hal T. Wyngate in 1937 in New Orleans , Louisiana . The family moved to Baton Rouge , Louisiana in 1947 where she eventually began working for the East Baton Rouge Parish Library. During the last decade at the library and after her retirement she began to pursue two of her favorite pastimes – bird watching and travel. She had a exceptional gift when it came to nurturing plants and flowers. In exploring her various interests she traveled extensively, eventually visiting 40 States, including Alaska . Much of this travel was done solo, and some with close friends from the library. This travel gave her ample opportunity to become an accomplished and skilled bird watcher. After retirement she based her travel out of Dundee , Florida . She has attended the Church of Christ at 142 Ave C SW, Winter Haven for nearly 2 decades.
Her husband: Hal T. Wyngate predeceased her. She is survived by her son Hal T. Wyngate, Jr. and his wife Norma of Dundee, FL; her granddaughter: Monica Wyngate Crist of Wisconsin; and her great-grandchildren: Elva Crist and Soley Crist.
Memorial Services will be held Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at 5:00 PM from the Oak Ridge Funeral Care in Winter Haven. Craig Smelser, minister of the Winter Haven Church of Christ will officiate.
