DAVENPORT - Jean Davis Torgersen,
82, of Davenport, FL, died, January
25, 2008, in Winter Haven, FL. due
to heart failure.
She was born September 9, 1925 in
Tampa, FL and had lived the last 60
years in Davenport. Jean was a
homemaker and she worked as an
election poll worker for about 30
years. She was a member of Davenport
United Methodist Church for over 60
years and her hobbies included,
gardening, sewing and going for
walks. Jean was a direct descendant
of the President of the Confederacy;
Jefferson Davis was her great uncle.
Her husband, Arnold G. Torgersen,
precedes her in death. Jean is
survived by her brother, Warren W.
Davis (Judy) of Lake Wales, FL;
daughter, Judith Thompson (Randolph)
of Davenport; grandchildren, Annette
Thompson of Naples, FL, Ryan
Thompson (Kylene) of Richmond, FL;
great grandson, Reece Thompson; and
nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 6-7
p.m. at Oak Ridge Funeral Care,
Haines City. Funeral services will
be Wednesday at 12 p.m. at the
funeral home.
The family has asked that memorials
be sent in lieu of flowers to
Davenport United Methodist Church on
behalf of Jean Davis Torgersen.
