Haines City, Florida – Alma Hazel Mills Lovette 96, of Haines City died January 16, 2008 of Heart Failure.
Born February 15, 1911, in Biloxi, Mississippi, to James Mills and Edna Freeman Mills, she moved to Haines City in 1924. She attended Haines City school and Orange Memorial Nursing School in Orlando. Her careers included nursing, citrus industry, school lunchroom, bookkeeper, sales clerk, hospital and nursing home food service and Wal-Mart. During WWII rode a bicycle to work to save gas for family outings on weekends. Retired after 22 years with the Polk County School lunch program and retired again after 10 years with Wal-Mart She was a Member of First Baptist Church of Haines City for many years and most recently a member of East Side Baptist Church. Other activities included church, Garden Club and Pink Lady volunteer at Heart of Florida Hospital. She was honored as one of Haines City's pioneer residents. Member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 68 since 1946 and served 4 terms as Worthy Matron. She loved spending time with family and friends and especially loved to travel.
Preceded in death by her husband, Thomas F. Lovette, she is survived by sons, James T. Lovette, (Cerease) of Haines City, Charles D.Lovette, (Diann) of Clermont; daughter, Edna Hazel Lovette, (Don) of Stuart, Florida, four Grandchildren and six Great Grandchildren
