HAINES
CITY - Mrs. Myla Hudson Lander died Saturday,
January 5, 2008, Winter Haven Hospital of heart
failure. She was 84. Born in Tampa, Florida on
October 30, 1923, she was the eldest daughter of
Pope and Leila Randall Cameron. She was a
life-long permanent resident of Haines City,
although for 32 years she lived throughout the
United States and in North Africa during her
husband’s 32 years of service in the Air Force.
They retired to their home in Haines City in
1975. Myla attended Florida State College for
Women and graduated from Columbia University,
New York at the age of 19 with a Bachelor’s
Degree in Medical Technology. She was for many
years a member of Haines City Citrus Growers
Association, Lake Region Yacht and Country Club
and a past president of the Sandspur Garden
Club. She was an elder of the First Presbyterian
Church of Haines City.
Widowed in
1995, Myla and Victor Lander were married in
2000.
Myla was
preceded in death by her first husband,
Lieutenant General John B. Hudson and by her
sister, Mrs. Ann Cameron Clement. She is
survived by her husband, Victor G. Lander, her
children, Mrs. Edward J. Mehren, II (Ann) of Los
Angeles, Mr. Davis C. Hudson of San Diego, Mrs.
Terry Donley (Laura) and Mrs. Scott Sisson
(Leila), both of Winter Haven, seven
grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Visitation
will be Friday, January 11, from 5 pm to 7 pm at
Oak Ridge Funeral Care in Haines City. Services
will be at 11 am Saturday, January 12 at the
First Presbyterian Church of Haines City.
Graveside Services are to follow at Forest Hill
Cemetery.
