Davenport, Florida - Julia B. Green Penrose of Davenport passed away February 23, 2008 at Spring Lake Nursing Center in Winter Haven, Florida. She was 71.
Born on September 1, 1936, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, she was the only daughter of the late Stewart N. Green and Florence I. Bostic Green. She is survived by her husband Hyacinth Anagbogu. A Teacher, Julia got her Batchelors degree from Temple University and Masters Equivalent degree from the School District of Philadelphia. She took many post graduate courses at various colleges and universities. She was an Elementary and Middle School teacher for 37 years and also taught swimming. She taught various groups of physically and mentaly handicapped children and adults for the City of Philadelphia and at Temple University. She taught for 16 years in Philadelphia Public Schools, grades 1-6 and various groups of children and adults. She taught Middle School English at McNicol, Pioneer Middle, Silver Trail Middle and North Miami Junior High. She also taught Music and performed for large audiences all over Brevard County. Julia loved to help others; she loved teaching Metaphysics and helping people overcome life's challenges. She retired from teaching in 2001 and moved to Central Florida in 2004.
Born into new thought and raised in Christian Science, she was trained as a Christian Science Practitioner. She studied in Science of the Mind, Unity and Spiritualism before discovering the Universal Foundation for Better Living. She became an ordained Minister in 2004, and was priviledged to attend numerous religious conferences.
Visitation will be from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 29, 2008 at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, Haines City. Services will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2008 at Christ Church Unity, 771 Holden Avenue, Orlando, with Reverend Alice Anderson officiating.
