WINTER HAVEN - Mr. Shannon Steinmetz of Winter Haven, FL, passed away at home Saturday, February 9, 2008 from congestive heart failure. He was 85 years old.
A native of Leetonia, Ohio, born January 16, 1923, Shannon moved here from Salem, Ohio in 1954. He was retired as the owner of Standard TV Service in Winter Haven, and was a member of Calvary Assembly of God, a US Navy veteran serving in World War II, and played senior league softball. Shannon was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years: Shirley Phyllis Steinmetz.
He is survived by his son: Mark Timothy (Terri) Steinmetz of Lakeland, FL; his daughter: Gayle Bailey (Victor) Crowell of Winter Haven, FL; his brother: John Steinmetz of Southington, OH; and his grandchildren: Robby (Shannon) Bailey, Jamie (Michelle) Bailey, Tim (Elisha) Steinmetz, Allison Wade, Krista (Colin) Brewer, Kara Crowell, Melissa (Bert) Hairgrove, and Matt (Theresa) Petry. Shannon also has 18 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 7 PM at Calvary Assembly of God, 3800 Recker Hwy. Winter Haven. Funeral Services will follow at 7:00 PM with Rev. Wayne Blackburn & Rev. Denny Postell officiating.
