WINTER HAVEN - Robert A. "Pastor Bob" Fortin, 59, of Winter Haven, FL, died December 24, 2008, in Winter Haven, FL due to a heart attack.
He was born May 18, 1949 in Cold Spring, NY and moved to Winter Haven in 1972 from Fishkill, NY. Pastor Bob retired from Walt Disney World after working there for 15 years and became a pastor in the Polk County area. He was a member of The Church of God Teaching New Testament Judaism and he was a veteran of the US Army serving during the Vietnam era. Bob was very active in both the Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts and was called to religious teaching shortly after 1987 he was also very active, recently, in the Marriage Amendment, 1 man 1 woman. Bob also supported Wings of Eagles International Inc, which is an organization to help bring Russian Jews back to Israel.
He is predeceased by his mother, Mary Fortin Hotaling; father, Theodore Fortin and step mom, Thelma Johnson Fortin and he’s survived by his wife of 35 years, Sherri Fortin; son, Jimmy Fortin; siblings, Ronald Fortin, Donald Hotaling, Sandra Verzi, Mary Van Buren Martins, Judith Palmer, Deborah Hotaling; aunt, Pauline Belusar; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-6 p.m. at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, Haines City with funeral services to follow at 6 pm in the chapel. Memorials may be made to Wings of Eagles International Inc. in Pastor Bob Fortin’s name. Condolences may be sent via www.oakridgefuneralcare.com
