Cleon Randall Spivey

 Cleon Spivey

Cleon Randall Spivey, 94, a longtime resident of Winter Haven, FL. passed away on December 17, 2008. He peacefully went to be with the Lord, our Nana, and his daughter Vicki.

Cleon, lovingly known as Poppa, was born on December 10, 1914 in Waycross, GA and moved to FL in 1925.  He married the love of his life, Mary Ellen Shaw, and they had two children, Vicki and Randall.  Cleon was a World War II Navy veteran that dreamed of making a better life for his family.

When the war was over and Cleon was back at home he began a career in automobile repair.  He went on to open an auto parts business located on Recker Highway in Winter Haven, Spivey’s Auto Parts.  He retired in 1989 and loved spending time on his boat fishing.  Cleon was a member of the First Baptist Church of Winter Haven.

Cleon is survived by his son, Randall Spivey of Auburndale, FL, a brother, Clayton Spivey of Auburndale, FL, two devoted grandsons, Steven Parker of Winter Haven, FL and David Parker of Orlando, FL, a loving granddaughter, Stacia Winfree, and two great-grandchildren, Megan and Will Winfree of Fort Myers, FL.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ellen Spivey, and daughter, Vicki Spivey Parker.

Poppa loved his family and wanted the best for everyone. He had a twinkle in his eye, an out-going personality, and was a true dreamer.  He will be fondly remembered for his constant singing, and great sense of humor.  His passing leaves a void in the hearts and lives of those who loved him. We look forward to the day when we will walk with our granddaddy and he’ll match us step for step.  We love you Poppa!

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00am, Saturday, Dec. 20, 2008 in the Oak Ridge Funeral Care Chapel with Dr. Walter Davis officiating.  Interment will be at Lakeside Memorial Park. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.oakridgefuneralcare.com.
