AUBURNDALE, FL – Alice O. Pitts McClung of Polk City died Thursday, December 4, 2008 at the Auburndale Oaks Health Center from cancer.  She was 83. 

A native of Ashburn Georgia, born March 9, 1925, Alice moved here in 1959 from Georgia.  She worked for Polk Nursery and Peterson’s Nursery for many years, and she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Polk City. 

She is survived by her sons:  Charles B. Pitts of Winter Haven; James Roy Pitts of Kissimmee; Perry Clayton Pitts of Lakeland; Everett Luke Pitts of Thonotosassa; her daughters:  Hazel Sherouse of Lakeland, and Helen Ruth Grimes of Polk City.  Alice also has 20 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren. 

Visitation will be Sunday from 4 to 6 PM at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, Winter Haven.  Funeral services will be Monday at 2:00 PM from the funeral home chapel.  Interment will follow at Auburndale Memorial Park.
