Maurice Joseph Desrosiers

WINTER HAVEN - Maurice Joseph Desrosiers, 81, of Winter Haven, Fl died Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at the Good Shepherd Hospice Resident Center in Auburndale due to complications from a stroke.

Born September 20, 1926 to Oscar and Lorraine Ross Desrosiers in Fall River, MA, he has been a resident of Winter Haven for the last 18 years, moving here from Taunton, MA. Mr. Desrosiers was a Retired Chief Warrant Officer 2 in the U.S. Army.  He served his country first in the U.S. Navy during WWII and went on to serve in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and Vietnam War.  He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Winter Haven; had owned a Shell Service Station in Taunton, MA; a member of American Legion Post 8 in Winter Haven and a member of the V.F.W.

 Preceded in death by: his parents; a daughter, Mary Lorraine Desrosiers; a sister and three brothers, he is survived by: his wife of 51 years, Helena; a son, Edward Desrosiers of Winter Haven; and three sisters, Lorraine Hickey of Taunton, MA, Lucille Martel of Chickapee, MA and Germaine Desrosiers of Taunton, MA.

 The family will receive friends from 5:00pm till 7:00pm, Thursday (today), August 28, 2008 at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, 2425 Havendale Boulevard, NW, Winter Haven, with a Rosary Service at 6:00pm.  Funeral Mass will be at 10:00am, Friday, August 29, 2008 in the St. Joseph Catholic Church Chapel with Father Peter Puntal officiating.  Interment will follow at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL with military honors.
