HAINES CITY - Richard "Dick" Hale, 83, of Haines City, FL and Lima, OH, died Friday, April 18, 2008, in Auburndale, FL. due to pneumonia.
He was born June 4, 1924 in Battle Creek, MI, he was a long time resident of Lima moving there in 1960, he and his wife, Patricia, became winter residents of Haines City some 19 years ago. Dick was an auditor having retired from Auto-Owner’s Insurance of Lansing, MI after some 30 years, he was a member of Cridersville Methodist Church, Cridersville, OH, and he was stationed in Panama during WW II in the US Army. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 34, Haines City, FL where he called bingo twice a week, he was a 50 year member of Free and Accepted Masons of Ohio, Spencerville chapter, he was a member of a square dancing club, the Hix N Chix in Maysville, OH and he was an avid fisherman.
Dick is survived by his wife, of 65 years, Patricia Hale; sons, Michael R. Hale and Christopher D. Hale and his wife Debbie all of Columbus, OH, and Joseph L. Hale of Tampa, FL; sister, JoAnne Niedringhaus and her husband Ken of Davenport, FL; 2 grandsons, 3 granddaughters; and 6 great grandchildren. His son, Jeffrey Hale and brothers, James, Thomas, and Gerald Hale precede him in death.
A memorial service will be held in Ohio at a later date.
