Phyllis Walker


 Phyllis Walker

Auburndale-Phyllis Walker passed away on Monday, March 31 at Good Shepherd Hospice Forsythe Center in Auburndale. She fought a courageous battle with cancer since December 2005. She was 60 years old.

Mrs. Walker was born in Cushing, Oklahoma on September 6, 1947 and moved from Kissimmee to the Auburndale area in 1979. She attended Calvary Assembly of God Church on Recker Highway, Winter Haven.

Phyllis was loved by many and will be greatly missed by her many friends. She was a buyer and administrative assistant at Scotty’s corporate office for 29 1/2 years. She was a charter member of the Winter Haven Nautical Club serving two terms as the first female Commodore. She was the Recording Secretary, Director, member of the Ways and Means Committee and most recently the Corresponding Secretary and Chairwoman of the Telephone Committee. She also was a volunteer at the Good Shepherd Thrift Store in Lakeland, FL and Faith in Action, Mission to Haiti in Auburndale FL. She was a member of the Old Biddies Group in Winter Haven, FL.

She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Jim L. Walker, of Auburndale; brother, Vernon Kendall and his wife, Dee, of Pasadena, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Juanita Kendall.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 4, 2008 from 6-8 p.m. At Oak Ridge Funeral Care, Havendale Blvd, Winter Haven, Fl. Services will be held at the Funeral Chapel at 11:00 am Saturday, April 5, 2008.
