LAKE ALFRED - Francis R. “Red” Morris of Lake Alfred, FL, passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at Kindred Hospital in Tampa from complications of liver cancer. He was 86.
A native of Slagle, WV, born December 20, 1920, Red moved here in 1959 from Indiana. He retired as a Sergeant First Class from the US Army after 20years as a paratrooper during World War II. After retirement, Red retired from the US Navy as a civilian contractor doing weapons repair. Red attended the First United Methodist Church of Lake Alfred; and was a member of the American Legion Post #8 of Winter Haven. He also was a 32nd. Degree Mason, member of the Travelers Lodge # 390 F&AM of Lake Alfred, a noble for the Egypt Temple Shrine of Tampa, and the Winter Haven Shrine Club; and was a member of the Winter Haven Moose Lodge and he also was an active ham radio operator.
Red is survived by his wife: Vivian Maxine Pruett Morris of Lake Alfred; a step-son: Ben (Jan) Pruett of Bridgeton, NJ; a brother: John (Bea) Morris of Pennsboro, WV; sisters: Maxine Spevak of Tampa, FL, and Madie Nichols of Fredrick, MD; 2 step grandchildren, and 3 nieces, and 1 nephew.
Visitation will be Sunday, from 2 until 4 PM at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, Winter Haven. Funeral services will be Monday, May 28th. At 2:00 PM. At the funeral home chapel.
