WINTER HAVEN - Thelma Louise Leis, 88, passed away of heart failure on May 7, 2007. Her death took place at home in the presence of family members who had served as caregivers in recent weeks.
She was born in Miamisburg, Ohio on April 5, 1919. She moved to Auburndale in 1945 and to Winter Haven in 1950. She was a devoted and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother, having celebrated her 70th year of marriage to George “W” Leis, her devoted husband last year.
In earlier years she was noted for her athletic ability, having bowled in a mixed league for many years and enjoyed softball and volleyball at family gatherings.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Harry and Iva Gebhart and brothers, Maurice and Don Gebhart.
She is survived by her husband George “W” Leis; children Georgene (Mike) Nolen, Gary (Sue Ann) Leis, Faye (James) Blake, Kaye (Robert ) Sabiston, ten grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Visitation will be held on May 10, 2007 at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, 2425 Havendale Blvd., NW Winter Haven, FL 33881 between the hours of 9:30 and 11AM. Funeral Services will be held immediately after in the Oak Ridge Funeral Care Chapel. Interment will be at Lakeside Memorial Park.
