Virginia Vichi

AUBURNDALE - Virginia Vichi, formerly of Hawthorne Terrace, Danbury, CT, passed into the loving arms of our Heavenly Father on Wednesday, March 20, 2007 at the Good Shepherd Hospice House, Auburndale, FL due to heart failure.

Virginia was born in Brewster, NY on March 15, 1922, daughter of the late Alfred and Ersilla (Montenaro) Vichi. Jean attended Brewster schools and became a famed personal chef. She had a warm heart with a generous spirit. Jean loved people and was always willing to share her God-given gifts and talents. She had a captivating smile. In the early 50’s she became the purchasing agent of fine wines at “the Curb” in New Milford, CT continuing in Brookfield, CT for thirty-five years at the family operated, “Le-Ann’s Package Store.” Jean created many beautiful seasonal displays and had a natural flair for gift-wrapping. Jean volunteered at many Franciscan functions including Forty Hours and anniversary celebrations and spent many enjoyable hours at Queen of the Clergy in Stamford.

Virginia will be deeply missed by her sister and care giver, Lena Keane of Davenport, Fl with whom she resided for the past two years due to the damage caused by Hurricane Wilma to her Ft. Lauderdale home in October, 2005. They enjoyed trips to Biloxi and different parts of Florida. She is also survived by her niece, Vickey Hickey of Danbury, CT with whom she lived for many years; also three nephews, Edward Hickey of Panama City Beach, Florida, Levi and Thomas Newsome of Danbury and several great nieces and nephews as well as many dear and caring friends.

She was preceded in death by her sisters: Emma Hickey and Ermenia Newsome of Danbury, CT and Lela Yerks of Tamarac, FL and her brothers, Frank and Edward Vichi of Brewster, NY.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday April 11 at 10 am at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 46 Stone Street, Danbury, CT. A burial service will follow immediately at St. Lawrence O’Toole Cemetery, Brewster, NY. Memorial Contributions in her memory may be made to Queen of the Clergy Residence for Retired Priests, 274 Strawberry Hill Avenue, Stamford, CT 06902, attention: Vickey Hickey and Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 46 Stone Street, Danbury, CT 06810.
