WINTER HAVEN - Donald Wayne Howell, 58, of Winter Haven, died Sunday, March 25, 2007 at the Good Shepherd Hospice Residents Center in Auburndale after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Born October 11, 1948 to James and Jeannie Howell in Lincoln County, TN, he moved to the area 28 years ago from Dyersburg, TN. He was a glass installer for Budget Auto Glass in Auburndale, FL and was a member of New Beginning Worship Center in Wahneta. Donald formerly raced cars at both the Auburndale and Lakeland Speedways for 20 years and he was involved in Racing for Kids. He was an avid fisherman and was a member of the Misfits Fishing Club in Lakeland.
Preceded in death by his father, and a sister, Barbara Nolen. His wife of 29 years, Ruby Howell; 2 sons, Brian Howell and his wife Courtney of Lakeland, FL and Casey Howell of Winter Haven; and his mother Jeannie Childress Howell of Winter Haven, survive Donald.
The family will receive friends from 5:00pm till 7:00pm, Tuesday, March 27, 2007 at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, 2425 Havendale Blvd., Winter Haven, FL. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00am on Wednesday, March 28, 2007 in the Oak Ridge Funeral Care Chapel with Rev. Richard Sanders officiating.
